Fundus Camera

Fundus camera.jpg

Eyesite was one of the first companies to introduce the Retinal Camera into practice some 10 years ago. It still forms an important part of your eye examination, allowing us to record in detail the central part of the retina (fundus).

Optomap® Retinal Examination

Optomap technology takes us one step further, in that we can now see a much wider part of your retina, as can be seen from the graphical representation below.

Retinas.jpgThe Optomap® Retinal Examination is the brainchild of Douglas Anderson, whose son lost sight in one eye at the age of five due to an undetected retinal detachment.

After this tragedy, Mr Anderson set out to develop a system which could capture a much wider view of the retina and was also patient-friendly, particularly for children, who tend to be more difficult to examine.

Regular monitoring of the retina (back of the eyes) can detect serious eye conditions. If left untreated, many of these can ultimately cause blindness.

As well as detecting eye problems, we use both the retinal camera and Optomap to help detect the early stages of other serious health issues, such as Heart disease, Hypertension, Cancer, Diabetes and Strokes.

The Optomap® retinal examination is painless. The image is captured in less than a second and is immediately available for your optometrist to review.

We recommend you utilise this incredible technology next time you come in for an eye examination, please click here to see how other Optomap® patients have benefited.

To benefit from Optomap®, you will need to have this done at the same time as your eye examination, to make an appointment, please click here.
