Conductive Keratoplasty
What is Conductive Keratoplasty?
Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) is an exciting new development in vision correction which uses radio waves instead of a laser. CK is a fairly new procedure developed specifically to for improving near vision in patients over 40, and is proving to be very popular as it eliminate the need for reading glasses. Mr Pillai of Advance VisionCare on Harley St is one of the most respected and experienced Consultant Refractive Surgeons in the UK, and is Eyesite's specialist eye clinic partner who will perform the CK procedure.
Conductive Keratoplasty:
- is a non laser treatment so minimally invasive
- is a procedure that takes only 3 minutes
- has almost immediate results - you will be able to read better immediately after the treatment
The CK procedure
CK is designed to treat near vision using the controlled release of radio frequency energy to strengthen the cornea - this procedure does not use a laser or any cutting, therefore is minimally invasive, safe and convenient alternative to reading glasses.
After your assessment the CK procedure only takes a few minutes. Eye drops are applied to the eye to ensure a painless procedure. A circular treatment pattern is gently placed on the cornea with washable ink as a guide. Radiowaves are applied to the cornea using a probe thinner than a human hair to tighten areas of collagen in the cornea which acts to steepen the cornea to create blended vision - this acts like varifocal spectacles. Generally only one eye needs to be treated if you wear only reading glasses.
Can CK help you?
